Well Deepening

Well Deepening & Retrofitting in Greenwich, Southbury, & Shelton

Increase your water supply with our cost-effective solutions

Deepening an existing well is a common solution for solving low water yield issues and increasing storage capacity. Water levels fluctuate on a seasonal basis, but well deepening can protect your well from running dry during droughts. Older, drilled wells may be too shallow and run out of water after minimal use. Eastern Water Solutions has ways of bringing your old well back to life, without drilling a new one.

Call us at 1-844-385-7377 to schedule an appointment. We will inspect your well and determine the best solution to improve your water supply. We provide free estimates for our well deepening and retrofitting services in Greenwich, Southbury, Shelton, and throughout Connecticut.

Our well deepening process

If an existing well is determined to be too shallow in relationship to its ability to produce adequate water, it may be a candidate for water well deepening. Once an inspection of the site has been performed to determine if the site is accessible by the drilling equipment, a permit is prepared and applied for by Eastern Water Solutions to the appropriate building and health departments.

If the casing does not currently extend above ground, it will have to be extended to conform to code. Prior to deepening, the existing pump piping and wire are removed. Once removed, the drilling rig sets up over the well and begins the process of cleaning out or reaming the existing well to its current bottom. When that is done, that tool is removed and a drilling bit is sent down the bore; beginning the actual deepening of the well.

As with water well drilling, water is introduced into the bore to carry the cuttings up and out of the well. Additionally, the same state codes dictating yield (GPMs) as it relates to depth, applies.
Once code is reached or at a practical, maximum depth, drilling ceases. In most cases, the existing pump will be too small to function at the new, greater depth and will have to be replaced.
